Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

what are the Indications of Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)?

Aging changes around the eyes including sagging upper eyelids and puffy lower lid bags can cause a tired look.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

The operative technique includes removal of excess upper lid skin, fat and muscle and either removal or repositioning of the lower lid fat. This operation is frequently combined with a facelift. The time the procedure takes varies depending upon if you are doing upper lids, lower lids or both. It generally takes 2-4 hrs.

What are the Trade Offs of blepharoplasty surgery?

There is mild, temporary surgical discomfort, some bruising, and swelling. Scars are carefully placed and are rarely a concern. There is a full discussion of trade offs and healing time lines during the consultation appointment.

what are the Risks?

Although uncommon, problems may include infection, bleeding, dry eyes, minor asymmetries, and temporary double or blurred the vision, or whiteheads. Additional surgery although rare is sometimes required when there’s a downward shift of lower lids. The risks are discussed in greater detail with the doctor during the consultation appointment.

what is the Recovery timeline for blepharoplasty surgery?

Our patients are instructed in the use of cool compresses for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Most patients return to work 1 week following surgery and to their normal exercise routine at 4 weeks.
