Indications for Juvederm®
Allergan achieved such success with the original JUVÉDERM® that they fine tuned it to target specific areas of the face. Below is a summary of each product and what it is used for, although the doctor will determine which one is right for you.
JUVÉDERM®: For wrinkles or folds along the sides of nose and mouth- nasolabial folds, vertical upper lip lines, corners of the mouth.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®: For lack of volume to the cheek area in adults over 21.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® : For lack of volume to the lips and for smoothing out vertical lip lines.
JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™: For areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur.
SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®: For hydration and skin smoothness to provide improved textural appearance.
Procedure
The JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA. The technique involves injection of a smooth consistency gel under the skin to fill in and smooth the wrinkles and folds, bringing the sunken skin back to the surface. The results are instant and natural looking.
Location
JUVÉDERM® is done right at our office with a local anesthetic (numbing the area).
Trade Offs
Mild, temporary discomfort, bruising, and swelling.
Risks
Side effects of using JUVÉDERM® are usually mild lasting 7 days or less and include temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps.
Recovery
The treatment is temporary lasts approximately 6 months.
